Variations

Ask once for a dozen designs of the same name and show them side by side.

B Klug, updated October 25, 2026

/v2/variations is for the moment when a person should choose. It draws several different logos for one name and returns them as JSON. Every entry has a seed, a one line summary of the design, and the URL of its image at normal and double size. You can show those images in a grid, let someone click one, and keep its seed to get the identical logo later.

The response, with its two entries:

Those two designs, drawn from their URLs:

Options

  • text is the name, as for the logo endpoint.
  • n is how many designs to return, from 1 to 48. The default is 12.
  • seed is the base of the list. The same base always returns the same list, and the response repeats it as base. Leave it out for a fresh list each time.
  • Every other parameter is passed through to each design, so layout=stacked or tone=playful narrows the whole list.
  • ai=1 builds the list from the six directions of an AI brief.

Caching and limits

A request with a seed is cacheable for an hour. A request without one is never cached, because the list differs every time. The limits page explains how requests are counted, and that images already drawn before are served from a cache.

A good pattern is to fetch one list, show the images, and store only the seed of the one the person picks. Everything about the logo can be rebuilt from the name, the options you passed and that seed.
